FEATHER AND FAN BABY BLANKET

Gauge: (not critical) about 5 stitches per inch in feather and fan stitch
Materials: Worsted weight wool or cotton, about 350 yards.
Knitting needles size 6, 7, or 8 (a 29 inch circular needle will hold all those stitches)
Size: about 25-30 inches square
Bottom border: Cast on 154 stitches (or any multiple of 18 plus 10). Work in garter stitch (knit every row)
for about one inch.
Pattern Row 1 (wrong side): K5 (side border), K2 tog three times, *(YO K1) six times, K2tog six times*,
repeat between the * until 11 stitches remain, K2 tog three times, K5 (side border).
Row 2: Knit
Row 3: Knit 5, purl to the last five stitches, knit 5.
Row 4: Knit
Repeat rows 1 through 4 to make the blanket. The five edge stitches are always knit and make up the side
borders. Keep going until the blanket is almost square, ending with Row 1. Knit every row for about one
inch to make the top border. Bind off.
